Providing Power to New England
At Independence Solar Andrew focused mainly on operations and management of current solar arrays, including standardizing maintenance practice, retrofitting new communication hardware, standardizing Modbus mapping, statistical analysis on historic data, and site inspections and diagnoses for low-producing arrays. Additionally he spent a large portion of his last few weeks troubleshooting production issues with third-party monitoring software tech support, inverter manufacturer support and clients simultaneously. In an effort to help boost productivity, he began automating array monitoring with third-party software to reduce man-hours needed and to ensure immediate notification of potential issues. As an introduction to his work in the solar industry, he attended collaborations on current and prospective Massachusetts energy legislation in group meetings with representatives from DOER, DPU, NSTAR and National Grid. The discussions included SREC I, SREC II, system sizing classifications, production caps, bidirectional/net metering, minimum bills, and buyouts.
